Fans are infrastructure at the beach
Nobody on the Grand Strand treats a ceiling fan as decor. Porch fans keep the no-see-ums honest at dusk, bedroom fans let the thermostat sit two degrees higher through a July power bill, and rental listings without them field complaints. Swapping a fan onto an existing fan-rated box is classic fixture-level work: support checked, blades balanced so the fan runs true on high, damp-rated models specified for porches because coastal air destroys the indoor kind in two seasons. Light fixtures follow the same pattern — like-for-like swaps on existing boxes, hung level, wired as found.
The county's rental economy adds its own fixture list: smart locks so hosts can rotate codes between guests instead of chasing keys, and video doorbells so somebody knows the difference between a delivery and a party. Both are mostly careful mechanical fitting — door prep, strike alignment, mounting angle — plus setup in the app actually finished before the pro leaves, which is the step that separates installed from working.
